I’m 18 years old and come from Chelmsford, more specifically the Parish of St Augustine in Springfield. I have recently completed my A-levels at Saint John Payne School after being there for seven years and loving every minute of it! I had a really active school life and somehow managed to find myself being involved in everything; sport, public speaking, pastoral activities but especially singing. I love to sing and have been doing so for eight years now; not only does it create a great distraction from everyday life for me but it also increases my enjoyment of prayer and worship.

I have dedicated my life to working at Walsingham House this year because I really want to give to young people the same lively and inspiring experience of our faith that I received each time I visited the house as a young person and throughout my time of being involved with the BCYS. While I’m here I hope to both deepen my faith and encourage others to do the same and to also enlighten young people to the fact that Church doesn’t have to be boring but it can be vibrant and exciting.

This year will be challenging for me in many ways, most significantly living apart from my friends and family who play a massive role in my life at home. Father Dominic has recently been spreading the message of “diving in” and being brave enough to take steps into the unknown and I encourage myself and you to do the same when you come to Walsingham House; to take a leap of faith and allow yourself to enjoy the experience to its fullest and I can guarantee you will come away feeling energised and enthusiastic about your faith and life in general!
