Meet Nick

Hello I am Nick. I am from Chelmsford and live with my parents and my two brothers I attended the Our Lady Immaculate/Holy Name parish and was involved with the confirmation course, altar serving and also Sunday readings. This is my first year at the house. I have recently completed my A levels in Geography, PE, Biology and General Studies at St John Payne, where I had studied since 2004 and was trained as a Eucharistic minister. I was also appointed as a chaplaincy prefect in my final year.

I am going to study PE at St Mary's university college in Twickenham starting September 2012. My main hobbies are sports including dancing, ice skating and football, however I also enjoy playing the piano and guitar and am heavily involved in the scouting movement with trips to the World Jamboree (gathering/camp), Nepal in 2009 and most recently Morocco in 2011.

I support West Ham United and Chelmsford City and I am visiting the Olympics in 2012 to watch the preliminary rounds of volleyball. I prefer watching films to television and my favourite genres are fantasy, comedy and horror. I have been on retreat 4 times in the house, but the idea of volunteering crossed my mind after my 2nd visit although it took some encouragement from my family and friends for me to apply. I personally feel that my faith has blossomed since the first retreat and I hope to pass this on to the young people that we work with. From the year I am hoping to develop and strengthen the faith of others and also my own faith and to bring myself closer to God. I am also looking to work on my team skills and leadership skills as I aim to spend my future career in teaching. I have been to Lourdes with the BCYS in 2010 and 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed the trip, physically, spiritually and mentally. Keep strong in the faith.
