I’m 21 and this is my third year as a volunteer at Walsingham House. I started to lead some retreat programmes last year and I’m doing more of that this year. As well as being a programme leader for Walsingham House I will be studying for two A-Levels in English Language and English Literature. English was my favourite subject at school and one that I hope to study at university.
My interests are playing guitar which I have been doing for a few years now. I love all sorts of music with my favourite artists being The Waifs, an Australian folk group who I have seen live a few times. I love travelling and in recent years have been to France, Italy, Poland, Australia and Canada. In Australia I swam with sharks in an aquarium (very cool). In Canada this summer just gone I went horse riding in the Rockies in Western Canada which was incredible. Being surrounded by the beautiful scenery was breathtaking and simply wonderful.
I attended St Benedict’s Roman Catholic secondary school and enjoyed my time there immensely. I moved to Braintree when I was 17 and went to college for a year to study Music Technology. I worked at Frankie & Benny’s for a year and a half and became assistant manager. I loved working there and often go back to see old friends and eat some good food.
My faith started in the parish of Kelvedon with my parish priest Fr Arthur Barrow, I was an altar server and got involved with the music by joining the church music group that was there. I had been to Walsingham House on retreat when I was in year 7. I came here to work because I liked working, and being around young people who enjoyed the catholic faith or wanted to know more was very appealing to me.
I look forward to meeting you all here on retreat and I wish you all the best.
